2026: Why This is the Year to Stop Seeking Jobs and Start Creating Them

Many people ask me, "Chairman, where is the money in this economy?" My answer is always the same: Look where the problems are. Africa is not a continent of scarcity; it is a continent of untapped opportunities. In 2026, the business landscape in East Africa is shifting in 3 critical ways that every entrepreneur must watch:
- The AfCFTA Reality: Regional trade is no longer a concept; it’s a competitive necessity. If you are producing in Kampala, you must be thinking about how to sell in Kinshasa or Kigali.
- Value Addition in Agriculture: We must stop exporting our wealth in raw form. Whether it’s coffee, grain, or dairy, the 2026 winner is the one who adds the "Made in Uganda" label and processes it for the world.
- Digital Inclusion: Technology is the great equalizer. From fintech to agritech, the barriers to entry are falling. You don't need a skyscraper to start a global business; you need a smartphone and a solution.
To the youth: The "PhD syndrome" (Pulling Him/Her Down) and the culture of entitlement will not build our nation. Character is your greatest capital. In 2026, I challenge you to develop the discipline of cash flow and the hunger for knowledge.
The African Century is here. The question is: Will you be a spectator, or will you be a shareholder in our growth? Let’s get to work.
